6.32pm Well played Sri Lanka. It's not been a fun tour so far for them, but they've stuck to their daunting task today, and given themselves some encouragement for the third Test at Lord's at the very least, and the ODIs to come of course, by finding some form and confidence today. Good half-centuries from Kaushal Silva (60), Angelo Mathews (80) and now Chandimal (54 not out) have allowed them to pass 300 for the first time this series.
Have a read of Andrew McGlashan's match report, and tune in later for our reports from the ground, courtesy of George Dobell, Melinda Farrell, Andrew Fernando, and of course, Mahela Jayawardene.
83.6
Broad to Siriwardana, no run, yorker, Dug out. That's stumps
83.5
Broad to Siriwardana, 4 leg byes, down the leg side and flicked on its merry way
lol: "I reckon playing up north in the cold will prepare some of the players for the white-ball cricket, in the later part of the tour. " Hopefully. It's why the points system has been introduced. Mind you, a 3-0 win in the Tests, and that is a redundant contest ...
83.4
Broad to Siriwardana, no run, full again, speared in towards leg stump
83.3
Broad to Siriwardana, no run, a crunching drive from a full length, as Broad comes round the wicket
83.2
Broad to Chandimal, 1 run, clipped into the leg-side
Neil: "Nadeem: The other thing is that these two matches have both been played in conditions that many of the SL batsmen have never seen before. In May, the ball nips about hugely at Headingly and Leeds." Well quite, that's just masochistic scheduling from the ECB. They lose out as well when the visitors can't last more than three-and-a-bit days
83.1
Broad to Chandimal, no run, banged in short, Chandimal ducks
So, one more over for Sri Lanka to complete their best day's batting of the series
End of over 83 (maiden) Sri Lanka 304/5
TAM Siriwardana 35 (53b 6x4 0x6)

SCJ Broad 16-5-46-0
82.6
Anderson to Siriwardana, no run, pushed across, another leave. A well negotiated maiden
82.5
Anderson to Siriwardana, no run, tighter line on off stump and threatening to bend back the other way. Left again on length as much as line
82.4
Anderson to Siriwardana, no run, up on the toes in defence, prodded to point
82.3
Anderson to Siriwardana, no run, three balls, three leaves, identical lines
82.2
Anderson to Siriwardana, no run, pushed across once more, well left again but the catchers are loitering in expectation
The 300 is up as well. Nearly three times as much as they managed in their first three innings ...
82.1
Anderson to Siriwardana, no run, over the wicket, angled across the left-hander
End of over 82 (8 runs) Sri Lanka 304/5
LD Chandimal 53 (96b 5x4 0x6)
TAM Siriwardana 35 (47b 6x4 0x6)
SCJ Broad 16-5-46-0
JM Anderson 15-2-40-2
81.6
Broad to Chandimal, no run, sharp pace to finish the over
dimple: "nadeem: other than the retirements poor management and selection in sri lankan cricket have contributed"... yeah, a bit of that too...
81.5
Broad to Chandimal, FOUR, that's a much better way to reach fifty! A beautiful confident stride towards the ball and a whistled drive through the covers. Well played
81.4
Broad to Chandimal, 2 leg byes, working round the front pad once again, and that was going to be his fifty, but the umpire singles leg-byes and a smattering of appreciative applause is quickly rescinded
81.3
Broad to Siriwardana, 1 run, ooh, close call! Sirwardene didn't want to commit to his leave, so he nearly inside-edged onto his stumps. The angle from round the wicket caused maximum doubt
Pompey: "The really good news Miller is that we get 2 reviews back!!!" I'm ecstatic. No, really
81.2
Broad to Chandimal, 1 run, filleted off the front foot, round the corner to fine leg
81.1
Broad to Chandimal, no run, wide of off stump, angling in, a bit of a loosener, nothing more
Broad has two slips
End of over 81 (1 run) Sri Lanka 296/5
LD Chandimal 48 (91b 4x4 0x6)
TAM Siriwardana 34 (46b 6x4 0x6)
JM Anderson 15-2-40-2
JE Root 2-0-13-0
Nadeem: "What exactly has happened with SL team recently? Can anyone please answer me?" Sangakkara and Mahela retired, mostly!
80.6
Anderson to Chandimal, 1 run, sharp single to midwicket and Chandimal keeps the strike
80.5
Anderson to Chandimal, no run, this one shapes back in a fraction, cautious defence, half-forward half-back
80.4
Anderson to Chandimal, no run, good shape through the air and off the pitch, fully forward in defence, smothering the outswing
aaveg: "Oh Andrew! I'd put my 5$ on them and wish your words come true. Might not win the 25 grand like the last season though. :)" Have a dart, why not
80.3
Anderson to Chandimal, no run, width, and thrashed into the covers. Good intent, but not quite timed
80.2
Anderson to Chandimal, no run, solidly forward, a pleasing click of willow on leather
80.1
Anderson to Chandimal, no run, a bit of nibble towards the slips, left alone
Two slips and a gully. Here's Jimmy
End of over 80 (3 runs) Sri Lanka 295/5
LD Chandimal 47 (85b 4x4 0x6)
TAM Siriwardana 34 (46b 6x4 0x6)
JE Root 2-0-13-0
MM Ali 17-2-94-1
79.6
Root to Chandimal, 1 run, so, that's the end of that. The new ball is due, and there's no hesitation about grabbing it
79.5
Root to Chandimal, no run, firmly forward
79.4
Root to Chandimal, no run, glided down to point with a back-cut
79.3
Root to Siriwardana, 1 run, nudged to point
Martin Mulkearn: "Only a shame that SL couldn't find this resolve yesterday afternoon. Hope they hold onto it, and bring it South with them, for their own honour and pride."
79.2
Root to Chandimal, 1 run, clipped to midwicket
79.1
Root to Chandimal, no run, defended back up the pitch
